Mission Mazauha
Olivet Congregational Church has had a relationship with Mission Mazahua for the past dozen years. The Mission, affiliated with the NACCC, serves the Mazahua indigenous people in the Central Highlands of Mexico. Reverend Norberto and Mrs. Lisa Cortes are the Founders and Directors, and their son was part of our church while a student at Olivet College. A Mazahua woman who is also an Olivet College graduate was active in our church during her college years here. She and her family live on a farm near the Mission, where for some time she served a key role on the staff.
The Mission provides spiritual, educational, pastoral, domestic and family support to those in the local villages and municipalities. It also assists with helping families develop small enterprises to raise family income for those in poverty, construct water harvesting cisterns, provide medical, physical rehabilitation services and Christian education to those with physical and learning challenges. Many members and friends of the Olivet Congregational Church have participated as short-term missionaries at Mission Mazahua.
