Missions

City Rescue Mission of Lansing
The City Rescue Mission of Lansing is a Christian ministry providing food, shelter and hope to homeless people and victims of domestic violence. The congregation supports the mission through annual  special offerings and donation of items such as pillows and blankets, socks, underwear, coats and other personal care items needed by the mission. On the first Saturday every other month, members of the church work at the mission serving dinner. bearescuer.com

Part of the hospice movement, palliative care is a unique concept of care designed to help terminally ill patients and their families live life fully and with dignity, and to help loved ones cope after death.  Anyone who has been given a diagnosis of 6 months or less is eligible to receive services from Eaton Community Palliative Care. Harmony School
Harmony School was founded in 2011 to address the need for education accessibility of disabled and low income children in their region of Atlacomulco, State of Mexico, in the Central Highlands. The school emphasizes academics, spiritual and life skills, using ACE, Accelerated Christian Education. Judith Gonzalez, a Mazahua woman who is an Olivet College graduate and was active in our church during her college years here is one of the head teachers at the school. The school is a non-profit and relies on churches and private donations to operate. The building they occupied was closed due the the Covid-19 pandemic, and the students are currently learning remotely. A new building for the school is being planned with a local church which has property for the new building.
Heifer Project

Heifer International seeks to help eliminate hunger and poverty by investing in farmers to help change their communities. Heifer International works in 21 countries, helping farmers by partnering with them to learn about and connect with technology and innovations that improve their production and businesses, leading to self-reliance. Their work in these communities strengthens local economies and helps create livelihoods that provide living incomes to the farmers. Support from Heifer can include provision of seeds, livestock and other agricultural supplies or connections to financing and animal wellbeing experts. heifer.org

Olivet Good Neighbors Program

Housed in the Olivet Congregational Church, the Olivet Good Neighbors Program is a non-profit community assistance program that provides food and other needed household items to people in need in our community. Members of the church, local businesses, organizations and individuals provide grocery items and financial support throughout the year, and annual food drives are held by Olivet Community Schools, Olivet College organizations and employees, Olivet Lions Club, and the Lee Center United Methodist Church.
Western Michigan Teen Challenge
Western Michigan Teen Challenge is a one year live-in discipleship program. Its main focus is to help adults who are struggling with life controlling addictions of any kind. They believe that addicts can be set free by the power of Jesus Christ, and don't have to live the rest of their lives as an addict. Students learn how to have a relationship with God, how to get their lives back on track, and how to remain free from the bondage of addictions. Olivet Congregation Church hosts visits by Teen Challenge participants and supports their work through special offering donations. wm-tc.com
